DCIM100GOPROG0014099.The territory of Villaputzu is characterized by at least four types of landscape: the mountain one that gives a taste of itself in the hinterland, coastal habitat, the valley one and the pond ecosystems largely defined as Sites of Community Importance. Let's talk specifically about ParduMareus, IsMurtas and FluminiDurci.
The alluvial plains, favored by the crossing of the Flumendosa and Rio Quirra, they represent an ecosystem to be admired. Especially thanks to the limited anthropization of the peripheral area of Villaputzu, these areas today have a notable environmental value and are a peaceful home to numerous animal and plant species.
During an evening walk, strictly on foot, by bike or perhaps on horseback it is possible to admire the thick reeds that characterize the stagnant areas, the many colonies of aquatic birds, first of all the red heron, the gallinule, the marsh harrier, the wood sandpiper, the kingfisher, but also the famous pink flamingo and the little egret.
There is no shortage of amphibians: you can have a close encounter with the Sardinian tree frog or the green toad. For fans of the genre there is no shortage of reptiles to photograph such as the water turtle and the field lizard.
The entire pond system of Villaputzu and its surroundings is suitable for birdwatching and long, relaxing walks.
