There are at least three reasons that can push you to take the castle mountain: visit the castle mountain, visit what remains of the castle, go inside the caves, or at least give us a peek.

The environmental context, moreover, is one that cannot be forgotten. Il medieval castle of Quirra, of which few walls remain standing today, it is placed in a scenario that takes your breath away. Downstream the sea, around the clear sky of Sardinia and the Cardiga plateau, all Mediterranean vegetation and local scents.

The caves above all do not go unnoticed. Their formation is relatively recent, and were created thanks to the erosion of the limestones that make up the Mount. Among those discovered so far, visited and visitable, at least three catch the eye.

The Prison it is located on the slopes of the mountain, and its name owes it to the ancient use of the cave which often housed prisoners of war and criminals.

The "Grotto of Giuanniccu Mene” is a rather intricate and mysterious cave: it is a whole maze of tunnels and passages that make it unique in its kind. The largest environment is circular and hosts imposing rock masses and a notable community of bats.

The "Nicolau's Grotto" it owes its name to its proximity to the beautiful church of San Nicola and was discovered after the explosion of a mine in the Second World War. Its access is quite visible even from the road, but due to the absence of wetlands within it the fauna is almost absent.

It is also large and evocative Prickly pear cave, whose entrance is well hidden by numerous prickly pear plants. The cave is complex, multi-storey, all communicating, mysterious and beautiful as expected. Finally we remember "IsStampus de su Monti 'e Casteddu", a group of six caves, the Grotta del Fico with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, il Castle Shelter and the Sperlerpes Cave.
